Sugar Free Pecan Pie

sugar free pecan pie Pecan pie is a holiday classic that’s traditionally loaded with sugar. Our sugar free pecan pie is sweet, chewy and scrumptious just like the classic version, but it’s free from the refined sugar, wheat, dairy and corn syrup.

Pecans are a great source of protein and healthy fats. With a combination of pecans and omega-3 rich flax seeds this decadent dessert is nutritious as well as delicious. The protein in the nuts will stabilize your blood sugar and allow your body to process the natural sweeteners more gently.

Our pecan pie uses brown rice syrup and maple syrup to create that well-known chewy, sweet filling. You may use any of our pie crust recipes as a shell for this pie.

Serve hot or cold and, if you like, top with your favorite sugar free ice cream.

Ingredients:

(use organic when possible)

2 1/2 cups pecans
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup brown rice syrup
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons ground flax
1 1/2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
1/3 cup rice or nut milk
Instructions:
  1. Prepare one of our pie crust recipes as instructed.
  2. Then set the oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. Lightly toast pecans on a baking sheet for 5-10 minutes.
  4. In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, rice syrup, vanilla, ginger and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove and cool to room temperature.
  5. Whisk ground flax, arrowroot powder and rice milk into the cooled syrup mixture. Beat until smooth.
  6. Add toasted pecans and stir well.
  7. Pour into prepared pie crust and bake for 30-45 minutes, until firm.
Makes a 9” pie
