Questions about Soaking Seeds

I am soaking some flax seeds right now. On the soaking and sprouting chart it says 1:1 seed/water - is that 4 cups seed to 4 cups water? Also I poured water in with them, in a bowl from the sink. I don't have a really wide mouthed jar.... I tried to rinse and drain...the seeds have become a guey gelatinous mass... can't seem to rinse. Fun to soak and roll hands in - almost want to take a bath in them.
I'm going to make the flax cracker recipe. I'm feeling really good. Thank you. And can we continue to access the recipes from the site once the cleanse is through? love and peace.
Answer: Oh yes, soaking your flax is so much fun! It should be very guey and gelatinous! For the crackers, you can simply cover the seeds with water, it does not need to be double the amount. Then I put them in the refrigerator overnight, but I have left them out on the counter too (so I don't forget to make them the next day!).
You don't need to rinse and drain flax seeds for crackers - in fact that might rinse out the part that makes them goey and sticky. Just soak overnight and then spread. The soaking chart is generally just for sprouting nuts and seeds... so you don't need it for the flax crackers. And I just soak them in a big bowl!
When you go to spread them out on the tray you may decide to add more water or strain... for ease of spreading. But it really doesn't matter how wet they are, cuz you are going to let them dehydrate anyway! Remember to keep dipping your hands in a bowl of water as you spread them. Spreading on a cookie sheet with wax paper will work, but if you can get Teflex
non-stick sheets to line your cookie sheets that is best.
