How do the flax meal and psyllium husk work?
by Bonita
I am doing the fall detox and wondered why we drink the flax meal in the morning instead of at night, also is psylluim husk too harsh if you have problems with constipation?
Answer: Hi Bonita, Thanks for sending in your question about flax meal and psyllium husk.
The information we share on the
Guided Fall Cleanse is designed to give you the tools you need to make good decisions. It is up to you what suggestions you use and when or how you use them. So, whether you take both flax and psyllium or just one of them or none is your choice. And, also whether you take it in the morning or night is up to you. We have shared what we've found to be the most beneficial for most people, but every body is different and your own intuition should always be the authority.
That said, there are reason we recommend the things we do. The most important element of detoxifying your body is flow. In order to really clear out those toxins you have create a moving channel for them. So, in addition to lots of clean water, detox tea and whole foods coming in to your body you want to make sure that you have a good amount of waste coming out.
Moving your bowels regularly is essential to the detox process. And, of course, every body is different in its digestive rhythm. If you have a tendency toward constipation or notice that your digestion slows down during your detox it's important to get it moving. Using either flax meal or psyllium husk can help your digestion along.
Each body will have its own reaction to these tools so pay attention to what works for you. Psyllium husk generally works very well for constipation and is very gentle on the system but for some individuals it doesn't do the trick. If that's the case for you, try flax meal.
In order to have either of these tools work effectively you have to take them with a lot of water. At least 2 glasses of warm lemon water is the ideal accompaniment for these digestive aids.
We have found that taking thees digestive aids first thing in the morning is a great way to wake up your digestion and stimulate a good morning bowel movement.
If constipation is an issue for you take either of these aids first thing in the morning for 3-4 days in a row to give them a chance to start to move things through. It may not work the first day if there is a lot of congestion to work through.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to write back if you still have questions.
