Green Smoothies Causing Indigestion?

I have a question, i started drinking green smoothies, but dont know after drinking smoothie am feeling uneasy, feeling acidic, gas problem, what could be the reason please respond me asap am interested in drinking smoothies but feeling to drop the idea as am not comfortable.

Answer: Durga - How long have you been drinking green smoothies? How much of them and what time of day? What other foods are you eating? It sounds like detox symptoms from your body stirring up toxins in the intestines. You many need to help the colon to cleanse using psyllium husk, colonics or other specific colon cleansing aids.

You also may need to slow down on the smoothies to give your body time to expel the toxins. Mixing your smoothies with solid foods can also cause indigestion... so we recommend drinking your smoothie on an empty stomach and waiting a while before eating solid food. I drink mine for breakfast then wait until lunchtime to eat a salad, etc.

If you can see a professional colon hydrotherapist, I highly recommend it! See our page on colon cleansing. You may also try adding 1 tablespoon daily of ground flax seed or psyllium husk to your smoothie or in a glass of water. This will help to sweep the colon out and move toxins more quickly...

We definately recommend sticking with green smoothies! You will feel great once you get past the initial detox phase! The toxins that are stirred up cause you to feel poorly. Cindy

Very glad to see ur respnse, and also happy to see such a quick once.
i drink green smoothie in breakast only, i hv smoothie at around 10 in the
mrning,,,, i do have lunch at 12.30 which include rice and curry,
lentils.(cooked food)..
night in dinner i have quinoa and some curry again.
each day am having different varriety of green leafy like kale,spinach,
lettuce...
i mix apple with greens...ginger and lemon..

Sounds like a very good plan. I do think you are just cleansing and experiencing detox symptoms that will pass with time. You may want to have your green smoothie breakfast every other day for a while then try daily again - just giving your system time to adjust. Are you having regular bowel movements, at least 2-3 times per day? If not, definately add some psyllium husk or other colon cleansing aid every morning.
