Green smoothie serving size
I am mixing up my green smoothies at night so that they will be ready for breakfast in the morning. The recipes make an entire blender pitcher. What is the serving size?
Answer: Great job on making your green smoothies! If you can, drink the whole blender full during one day's time. That is an entire breakfast for me and holds me over until a late lunch.
If you can't drink that much right away, work up to that amount slowly. Maybe drink half in a day and the other half the next day. But it tends to be most appealing and fresh tasting when you drink it within 24 hours. It can last 2-3 days in the refrigerator though.
If you don't drink it all before lunch time, you can save it for a late afternoon filler. Another idea as the weather gets warmer is to pour any leftover smoothie into popsicle containers to have later as a frozen smoothie treat!
If you don't find that you can drink the whole blender full in a day, then you might cut back to a half recipe for awhile. If you become a green smoothie regular, then you'll probably work yourself up to a larger serving.
With green smoothies, more is definately better! And it's a nutritious way to crowd out your cravings for other foods. It keeps your stomach full and is nutrient dense. Remember to rotate your greens (and feel free to mix them together) so you don't lose your appetite for any one type.
