To successfully clear your body of toxins, follow these simple rules of detox dieting and use your Free Detox Diet Start Up Kit as a guide in planning and completing your customized detox plan.

Preparing for your Detox

Taking the time to prepare for your detox will guarantee a more successful and enjoyable experience. Use these simple guidelines to cover all the basics:

  1. Figure out where you are on the Detox Ladder and complete your Personal Assessment Worksheets in the Detox Planner.
  2. Schedule your detox timeline. Choose a time period for your cleanse. Schedule it into your life so that you can have time to give yourself a little extra attention and rest more. When you’re making space for it include time for preparation and for coming off gradually.
  3. Ask for help. Tell the people in your life what you’re doing and ask them to be supportive. If you can, find a buddy to do it with so you can share the experience and support each other through the process.
  4. Schedule supportive therapies if possible.
  5. Create a realistic Menu Plan using your free Menu Planner and our popular detox recipes. Make sure to create a menu plan that will be simple to follow and deeply nourishing.
  6. Make a thorough shopping list that includes ingredients for your recipes and any optional herbs or supplements you plan to include.
  7. Set up your kitchen for ease. Make sure you’re stocked up on detox ingredients. Remove the foods that might tempt you during your detox.
  8. Prepare some of your foods in advance to make your detox easier.

During your Detox

Follow these simple guidelines to make your detox easier and more enjoyable.
  1. Commit to really DOING this free detox diet program. It will only work for you if you stick with it. Remember that it’s only for a short time and the more completely you offer yourself to your intention, the more successfully you’ll cleanse your body. Make sure you have created a detox plan that is realistic for you. It will be more beneficial for you to successfully complete a very gentle diet than it will be for you to fail to complete a more rigorous diet.
  2. Between meals and when hungry, drink pure water with lemon. It will help you feel full while flushing you out and reducing stomach size and cravings. Drink water on an empty stomach between or before meals (not with or after meals.)
  3. Chew Well!! Proper chewing will significantly increase the digestibility of your food causing you to crave less, feel more satisfied and digest more successfully. Thorough chewing is essential for the proper digestion of complex carbohydrates.
  4. Make sure you are moving your bowels regularly (at LEAST once daily) and urinating frequently (every couple hours MINIMUM). This is how the toxins get out of your body. If you aren’t eliminating completely you run the risk of autointoxication. If this isn’t happening naturally for you please make sure to use one of the supportive therapies or herbs like psyllium husk, detox tea, colonics or an at-home enema.
  5. Pay attention to detox symptoms that may come up and use the appropriate supportive therapies or supplements & herbs to relieve them naturally. The therapies and detox aides recommended on this site are intended to address the cause of your symptoms naturally and support your detox process. Try to avoid using over the counter or prescription medications as they are typically designed to suppress symptoms and can sabotage your detox efforts.
  6. Sweat. This is another great way for the toxins to get out of your body. Mild exercise, saunas and hot showers are great ways to get yourself sweating.
  7. Choose one detox support therapy that is new to you – tongue scraping, hot towel or brush scrub, detox tea, or massage.
  8. Rest when you’re tired - get plenty of sleep at night.
  9. Use your Personal Detox Diet Journal, provided with your free Detox Diet Start Up Kit, to keep you on track with your detox, allowing you to record your goals, track your progress and get in touch with your body’s healing process.
  10. Pay attention to your body. What are you learning about it? How does it feel? What new foods does it like?

Coming Off your Detox

It is important to PLAN for after your detox so that you come off gently and gradually to allow your body to adjust to the foods you are reintroducing. Doing this part well will set you up for improved long term health.

  1. Consider what you’ve learned so far during your detox. Use the final page of your free Detox Diet Journal to help you check in with the changes you’ve made and how they have affected you.
  2. Think about the aspects of your detox diet that you’d like to incorporate into your daily life. Which recipes could you eat regularly? Which foods could you leave out or reduce in your regular daily diet?
  3. Climb back down the detox ladder, reintroducing one food group at a time over a period of 2-4 days. Pay attention to your body’s reactions to the different foods as you do this. Remember you don’t have to add them ALL back in. This is a great opportunity for you to make some conscious choices about what you’ll be eating from now on. One or two sustained improvements can make a huge difference in your long term health.
  4. Set your intentions for your next detox. Next month? Next season? Next year? Detoxing on a regular basis helps you stay clear and allows you to continue to improve your health as you age!
When you’ve created your final plan in the Detox Diet Planner, using the support of your Recipe Booklet and Menu Planner, then you’re ready to begin using your Personal Detox Diet Journal while implementing your plan! The Personal Journal will keep you on track with daily motivational quotes and places to record your goals, your nourishment and your observations of the process.
