Detox Symptoms

detox symptomsDuring your detox it’s likely you will experience a few detox symptoms. Have you ever cleaned out a cluttered garage or guest room? Remember the dust in the air and all the stored up stuff that gets strewn about while you’re organizing? The place usually looks a lot messier before you eventually get it all cleaned up, right? But once you’ve finished you have a freshly cleaned and organized space that is SO much more functional than it was before! Clearly worth the effort!

Your detox will clear out a lot of clutter in your body and it might get messier at first. You’re going to get lots of stuff moving! Toxins that have been stored in your fatty tissues for years will shake loose. They’ll enter your blood stream looking for a passage out of your body and you’ll probably feel it!

The way you feel it will be unique to you. There are many common symptoms. But, don’t worry, they won’t ALL happen to you at once. Toxins in your bloodstream could cause headaches, fatigue, coated tongue, body odor, gas, bloating and many other symptoms. But, by following our simple suggestions, you will be able to reduce them or even eliminate them altogether.

Minimize your Detox Symptoms

Our goal is to help you keep your detox symptoms to a minimum. The best way to do that is to design a gentle Customized Detox Diet that works perfectly for your body. Extreme detoxing can cause extreme symptoms by releasing toxins too quickly and flooding your bloodstream with them. With all those toxins in your bloodstream you could wind up feeling really crummy and reabsorbing most of them back into your system. Creating a customized plan that is a gentle step up the detox ladder will allow you to detox more slowly and much more successfully!

Planning ahead to prevent detox symptoms is the best way to have a successful and pleasurable detox experience. Use nourishing and cleansing whole foods to give your body the strength it needs to process the toxins being released. Drink detox tea to support your detoxifying organs so they can do an excellent job for you. And eliminate the toxins as quickly as possible through regular bowel movements, frequent urination, and gentle sweating.

Elimination is extremely important in the detox process. If you are not eliminating easily and often (minimum of one daily full bowel movement, preferably more), then now is a good time to incorporate colon cleansing supportive therapies like professional colonics (colon hydrotherapy), at home enemas, or colon cleanse herbs and supplements such as psyllium husk or senna leaf.

You’ll also want to make sure that you’re drinking enough pure water and herbal detox tea that your urine is clear and is passing at LEAST every other hour throughout the day. Schedule some mild exercise or time in a sauna or steam room to give yourself a chance to sweat. Your skin is the biggest elimination organ you have so make sure you put it to work!

Dealing with Your Symptoms

Even with this great proactive plan, you still may experience a few detox symptoms. This is totally normal. If you feel any of the detox symptoms below, don’t be alarmed. These symptoms are natural signs that your body is working hard to clean up your system. You aren’t getting sick, you’re getting better.

Try observing your symptoms and giving yourself a chance to actually feel them. Appreciate your body for working so hard to move these toxins out and making way for your improved health. Not all symptoms need to be “fixed.” If you feel extra tired, take a nap. If you smell bad, enjoy a nice hot shower. Take good loving care of your body and allow the detox process to happen.

If you have symptoms that you can’t tolerate, use natural supportive therapies and herbs & supplements to ease them instead of reaching for medications to suppress them. The very medications you may ordinarily reach for (pain relievers, antihistamines, etc.) may be some of the chemicals your body is trying to detox.

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this list of possible detox symptoms before you start your detox. If you experience unpleasant symptoms during your detox, visit our supportive therapies and herbs & supplements pages for gentle ways to lessen them.
