The Magic of Bee Pollen and Royal Jelly

bee pollen

Both bee pollen and royal jelly are incredible sources of pure energy and nutrition that can enhance your detox and daily lifestyle. These mysterious and magical bee products impart health benefits that modern science has yet to fully understand or duplicate. Especially high in protein and B12, they are the perfect foods to add into a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Bee pollen is the pollen collected from flowers and gathered by bees. It is harvested and sold as a superfood supplement in the form of small yellow granules. Each granule contains over 2 million flower pollen grains and is the result of countless “bee-power” hours. The exceptionally concentrated nutrients found in bee pollen make it one of nature’s most special gifts.

Because of its highly concentrated energy, a little bit goes a long way. It is important to use it in small doses with proper respect for the energy that goes into making it. For most people just 1 teaspoon per day is an adequate supplement to a healthy diet. Athletes who need more energy may eat up to 2 or 3 teaspoons per day.

Store in the refrigerator to prolong its potency. It does lose its nutritive value over time, especially at room temperature. Mixing it into a raw honey base will also prolong its life as the honey protects it from bacteria. Heating of the pollen will destroy its valuable enzymes and vitamins, so consume raw - it may be mixed into honey or smoothies.

"Bee pollen is often referred to as nature's most complete food. Human consumption of it is praised in the Bible, other religious books, and ancient Chinese and Egyptian texts. It has long been prescribed by traditional health practitioners - including the fathers of Western medicine Hippocrates, Pliny the Elder, and Pythagoras - for its healing properties. Bee pollen rejuvenates your body, stimulates organs and glands, enhances vitality, and brings about a longer life span. It's ability to consistently and noticeably increase energy levels makes it a favorite substance among many world class athletes and those interested in sustaining and enhancing quality performance."

Steve Schechter, N.D., Director Natural Healing Institute

Packed with Protein Power

About half of bee pollen’s available protein is in the form of free amino acids. This highly assimilable form of protein can significantly contribute to your protein needs. Its use is much more efficient and cleaner than heavier forms of animal protein. This powerful nectar has been used by cultures around the world for “improving endurance and vitality, extending longevity, aiding recovery from chronic illness, reducing cravings and addictions, regulating the intestines, building new blood, and preventing communicable diseases.”1

In Healing with Whole Foods, Paul Pitchford recommends using this pollen as a part of his comprehensive plan for weightloss. He says that “micro-algae as well as pollen contain specific nutrients that can moderate body weight.” He recommends using wild blue-green algae, spirulina or pollen to eliminate blood-sugar imbalances and cravings while following his weightloss guidelines.

Healing and Longevity

Bee Pollen is thought to protect against radiation and to have many anti-cancer qualities. It has been used in many cultures to promote longevity and vitality.

"Bee pollen is an excellent prophylaxis and therapeutic treatment against all the precocious symptoms of old age. It should be considered a universal geriatric treatment in the form of a natural remedy.” G. Liebold

Use a local source to ease seasonal and environmental allergies. Use only the pollen, royal jelly or raw honey that has been harvested locally to treat environmental allergies. By ingesting the pollen of local plants in these minimal homeopathic doses your body will begin to adjust and come into balance with your surroundings and your allergy symptoms will diminish.

WARNING: Some people are allergic to the bee pollen itself. Before introducing regular portions, test your allergic reactions by eating just one pellet and paying attention to any symptoms that may arise in the following 2-4 hours.

Royal Jelly

Royal jelly is the sole food of the queen bee. It has all of the same healing properties as the pollen in a much stronger concentration. Royal jelly has a stronger effect on the glandular system and is especially strengthening for the reproductive systems for both men and women.

"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years left to live. No more bees, no more pollination, no more men." Albert Einstein
