| Hello Happy Spring! We hope this newsletter finds you and your family in good health and happiness as the cold of winter gives way to new life and longer days. This is the time of year that all of nature is rising from its slumber, raising up its lifeforce and jumping into action. These natural disasters compounded by this outrageous nuclear disaster could possibly be one of the most tragic, complex and intense catastrophes any population has ever had to deal with and there’s truly no way for us to fathom what they are going through. Response to Fukushima Nuclear Crisis: Maintaining Our Health in a Changing World The Fukushima Nuclear crisis resulting from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11th has become the most serious nuclear crisis in history. And, as of this writing, it is still far from being under control. On April 12th, the official rating was raised to a level 7, the highest on the INES scale and equivalent to the 1986 Chernobyl crisis. Dr. Helen Caldicott, nuclear prevention crusader and expert in this field, has assessed that this disaster is already far worse than Chernobyl. She claims that “this is the greatest public health threat that we have ever experienced.”
Since the 1960s radioactive pollution has been released into the environment from numerous sources. It is cumulative in our environment and in our bodies, causing greater health and environmental consequences as it builds up. Radioactive pollution effects life at every level, bio-accumulating in the food chain, settling in the soil and ocean sediment, embedding itself in the organs and tissues of humans and other animals and altering the genetic code of all life forms. The Fukushima crisis is just one more source of radioactive pollution, but at this stage in the game, it is contributing a significant increase to an already heavily polluted environment. ~ Dr. Karl Z.
